Lao Cai Department of Education and Training speaks out about 11 students sharing 2 packs of instant noodles with rice

On the afternoon of December 18, a representative of the Lao Cai Department of Education and Training said that they had received a report from the People's Committee of Bac Ha district about the boarding meals not meeting regulations and standards at Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

At yesterday's meeting, Mr. Tran Ngoc Ha, the school's principal, explained and admitted that the images reflecting the school's lunch were true, as reported by the press.

Each tray of 11 students was only given two packs of instant noodles, cooked thinly, mixed with rice for breakfast, while the menu board stated that each student was given one pack of instant noodles and one egg.

For lunch and dinner, students were given some chopped ham and vegetable soup, although the board said November 14, in addition to vegetables, the food for two meals also included 14 kg of pork and 11 kg of bones. In fact, the vegetables in the kitchen were rotten, so students were mobilized to pick them up.

Bac Ha district is working with school leaders to determine the violations and responsibilities of the collective and individuals in this incident. As soon as there is a conclusion, it will report to provincial leaders and inform the press.

The incident that happened at Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities made many people angry. Specifically, according to the portion size listed on the board, each child was given a pack of instant noodles and 1 egg, but in reality, the school only allowed 11 children to share 2 packs of noodles.

The school has a total of 174 boarding students who benefit from this breakfast scheme. In addition, the food prepared for the students is also of poor quality.

On December 17, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent document requesting Bac Ha district to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and related units to inspect and clarify information reflecting on meals for students at Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

Immediately afterwards, Mr. Tran Ngoc Ha, the principal of this school, was suspended from work for 15 days by the People's Committee of Bac Ha district to serve the investigation and clarify information about the boarding meals of 174 students of Hoang Thu Pho 1 school not being guaranteed.
