Porsche's sports car integrates a new hybrid powertrain, helping accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just under 3 seconds.

Porsche 911 2025 Carrera version

Porsche has introduced hybrid technology for the first time in its iconic sports car. The hybrid system on the 911 is called T-Hybrid, short for Turbo Hybrid, different from the E-Hybrid on the Cayenne and Panamera.

T-Hybrid is currently only available on the 911 Carrera GTS. It uses two motors, one mounted on the turbocharger, between the compressor and the turbine, to help solve the turbo lag problem typical of engine-driven turbochargers. The second motor is directly connected to the PDK dual-clutch transmission.

With this method, the 911 Carrera GTS's 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 2.9 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the previous version, with a top speed of 312 km/h. In addition, the turbocharger can also reverse rotation to charge the battery.

In terms of engine, the 2025 Porsche 911 GTS is equipped with a 3.6-liter inline-6 engine, 478 horsepower, 571 Nm of torque. The 11 kW electric motor integrated into the 8-speed PDK gearbox can provide an additional 54 horsepower and 140 Nm. The total output increases to 532 horsepower, 609 Nm of torque.

The compact 400 V battery pack is located in the front trunk, with a capacity of 1.9 kWh.

In terms of chassis and suspension, the GTS hybrid is equipped with rear-axle steering as standard for the first time. Customers can optionally equip the active chassis control system (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control - PDCC), which helps stabilize the body when cornering. The GTS version uses a sports suspension system, 10 mm lower than the standard Carrera.

In terms of design, the 911 Carrera GTS has not changed much compared to previous 911 models. The front end has been slightly revised with new matrix LED headlights, integrated lighting functions including daytime running lights and fog lights. This means that the daytime running lights on the front bumper of the previous generation are now removed, making way for cooling air vents, which can be opened or closed depending on the operating status of the engine.

At the rear, the design of the extended taillight strip is still maintained, integrating the Porsche logo. The rear bumper has a higher license plate. Customers can choose an aerodynamic kit, including replacing the front bumper, door sill panels, and a fixed rear spoiler, replacing the standard version's active spoiler.

Lightly tweaked interior

The interior has been changed in some small details. The start button has been changed to a push button instead of the twist type in the previous generation, driving support features are controlled via physical buttons, wireless charging with integrated phone cooling, a completely new digital instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch infotainment screen with deeper integration with Apple Carplay, and the ability to play videos while parking. The standard version will not be equipped with a rear seat, but customers can add it for free if needed.

On the other hand, the standard 911 Carrera uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, but with a larger intercooler from the 911 Turbo, and hotter turbochargers from the previous GTS model, these upgrades increase power by 9 horsepower, torque remains the same at 449 Nm, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the previous generation.

The 2025 Porsche 911 is available in many versions, the lowest is the 911 Carrera Coupe priced at $122,095, the highest is $186,000 for the 4 GTS Cabriolet and Targa 4 GTS. The car will be delivered to customers at the end of this summer.
