"Rain on the Butterfly Wings" by director Duong Dieu Linh received two awards at the Venice Film Festival International Film Critics Week, including Best Film.
On September 6 (local time), the organizers of the International Film Critics Week (Settimana Internazionale della Critica) awarded two prizes to the "Rain on the Butterfly Wings" crew, including the Circolo del Cinema Verona award for the most creative film - judged by international film critics under 35 years old - and the highest prize in this category - IWONDERFULL Grand Prize for the best film. At the event, director Duong Dieu Linh said: "Just a few days before the world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the actor asked me: 'How do you feel when you are living your cinematic dream?'. I said that I have been living the dream for the past 5 years while working with a great crew."
The film's main actress - Meritorious Artist Tu Oanh - said she was surprised by the result. "I went up to receive the award with everyone and choked up," the artist said.
During the screening on September 3 (local time), the crew received more than two minutes of applause from the audience and the film received positive reviews from experts. The project is a joint production between companies in Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
