Due to violations in advertising activities, Hang Du Muc and Quang Linh Vlogs were each fined 70 million VND.
On March 20, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) issued a decision to administratively sanction Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (Hang Du Muc) and Mr. Pham Quang Linh (Quang Linh Vlogs) for violations in advertising activities.
Quang Linh Vlogs and Hang Du Muc were fined under Clause 5, Article 34 of Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP on administrative sanctions in the field of culture and advertising, amended and supplemented by Decree No. 129/2021/ND-CP dated December 30, 2021 of the Government. The reason was due to false advertising, causing confusion about product quality.
Specifically, each person was fined 70 million VND and forced to correct incorrect information.
Previously, Hang Du Muc, Quang Linh Vlogs and Miss Thuy Tien participated in a livestream to promote Kera vegetable candy products of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company (CER Group), produced by ASIA LIFE Joint Stock Company (Dak Lak). In the advertisement, they affirmed that "1 candy is equivalent to a plate of vegetables". However, this statement caused strong controversy because it was considered untrue. In response to the harsh reaction of public opinion, all three apologized.
On March 14, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (PTTH&TTDT) invited Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (Hang Du Muc), Pham Quang Linh (Quang Linh Vlogs) and Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (Miss Thuy Tien) to work to clarify the level of involvement in the livestream sessions.
After the meeting, a representative of the Department of Broadcasting and Electronic Information confirmed that all three admitted to their violations. Hang Du Muc and Quang Linh Vlogs played the role of hosts of the livestreams, while Thuy Tien only participated as a guest.
Based on the severity of the violation, Pham Quang Linh and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang were administratively sanctioned for false advertising. Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien was not sanctioned but was reminded to comply with legal regulations in advertising activities and providing information online, according to Decree 147.
