Today, July 17, the Vietnamese sports delegation participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics will hold a send-off ceremony in Hanoi. The 16 athletes representing Vietnamese sports competing at the biggest sports festival on the planet are expected to bring glory to the country.
1. Nguyen Thi That (xI pedal)
The cyclist from An Giang is the first name to win a ticket to Paris after successfully defending the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Cycling Championship. The girl born in 1993 has pursued her passion for cycling for more than 15 years, winning 3 Asian gold medals and 5 consecutive SEA Games gold medals recently.
In 2019, Nguyen Thi That joined the Belgian Lotto-Soudal Ladies team, becoming the first Vietnamese cyclist to compete for a European team. After that, she continuously trained and competed for strong teams around the world to prepare for the top arena.
Nguyen Thi That said she will try her best against her competitors when she gets to the Olympics this year and the rest will be decided by fate.
2. Nguyen Huy Hoang (byeah)
The current top Vietnamese swimmer came to Paris this year thanks to his bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games in the 800m freestyle, with a time of 7 minutes 51 seconds 44. Huy Hoang is still far behind many of the world's top athletes in his strong distance. However, the 24-year-old athlete still sets a goal for himself to surpass himself. Huy Hoang is training in Hungary and will go to Paris to join the athletes' village, ready to compete. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the athlete from Quang Binh ranked 20th out of 33 athletes competing in this event and was the only Asian athlete in the Top 20. This is the name that is expected to be the top medalist of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Thu Vinh will compete in the 10m air pistol and 25m sport pistol events. The shooter born in 2000 started this year with a gold medal at the Asian Shooting Championship, the 10m mixed team pistol event with male shooter Pham Quang Huy. The girl from Thanh Hoa is assessed by the Vietnamese shooting team as maintaining a score capable of reaching the final round in both events she will participate in.
4. Le Thi Mong Tuyen (bgun)
The 2003-born shooter is the 4th official ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics for Vietnamese sports. Mong Tuyen shined at the Asian Shooting Championship, women's 10m air rifle event. Coming to shooting because of shyness, and determined to overcome herself because of this, Mong Tuyen is a shining example for many people in similar situations.
Mong Tuyen's ticket to the Olympics is considered a historic event for Vietnamese shooting. Because rifles are not the strength of Vietnamese shooting, and no shooter has ever won an official ticket to the Olympics to compete in this event.
According to insiders, Mong Tuyen's achievements are approaching the goal of reaching the final of the Paris Olympics and she can shine unexpectedly like the way Hoang Xuan Vinh performed in 2016.
5. Nguyen Thuy Linh (chair)
On the afternoon of July 12, the 2024 Olympic badminton draw determined the group, Thuy Linh was assessed to be in an easy group with many opportunities to go far. Vietnam's No. 1 female tennis player fell into group K, along with Beiwen Zhang (USA, ranked 11th in the world) and Tiffany Ho (Australia, ranked 80th in the world). Thuy Linh had won against these two names in previous confrontations. Thuy Linh is ranked 26th in the world and the opportunity to shine in France this year is not impossible.
6. Le Duc Phat (chair)
Compared to Thuy Linh, Duc Phat is not highly rated for his chance to shine in Paris. However, the chance for the world's 70th ranked player in the men's singles to pass the group stage is feasible. The 6th Vietnamese athlete to win a ticket to the Paris Olympics is emerging as a medal hope. After a recent 40-day training trip in China, Van Vinh is considered to be in good physical condition, has improved his performance a lot and can cause a surprise in the 61kg weight class.
The athlete born in 1995 was caught doping in 2018 and was banned from competing for 4 years. But his will has pushed Van Vinh to make a strong comeback. This year, the athlete from Bac Ninh declared his specific goal of winning an Olympic medal.

At the age of 23, Anh Nguyet may have matured more professionally.
Experience in this top-level competition promises to help the archer from Hung Yen be able to cause surprises. With her beautiful appearance, Anh Nguyet is one of two athletes (along with Le Duc Phat) who will have the honor of holding the flag of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 2000-born archer became the 12th Vietnamese athlete to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The athlete from Vinh Long competed in the men's individual 1-string bow event. Le Quoc Phong is the athlete who helped Vietnamese sports reach the set target of winning 12-15 tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
10. Ha Thi Linh (boxygen
The boxer born in 1993 is admired by experts for her extraordinary will. At the age of 12, the Tay ethnic girl left her hometown of Lao Cai to Hanoi to practice boxing and 3 years later became a professional boxer. Ha Thi Linh owns 2 SEA Games gold medals in the 63kg category in 2013 and 2023. Currently, this mother has 2 children but still pursues her passion and has a ticket to the Olympics for the first time.
11. Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxygen
The 1997-born boxer will compete in the 54kg weight class. The girl from An Giang had to persevere for a long time to train hard before being rewarded with a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Kim Anh commented that this was her first time participating in the Olympics so she felt pressured. But the goal was still to fight with all her might.
12. Pham Thi Hue (rThe
The mother of two, born in 1990, is the oldest Vietnamese athlete to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Pham Thi Hue has a strong will and a passion for rowing. During her career, the athlete from Quang Binh has won 4 SEA Games gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals at the ASIAD, along with many other achievements.
Pham Thi Hue almost qualified for the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, but the regulations limiting the number of athletes participating in each country forced her to give up her spot to her juniors. This year, Pham Thi Hue will officially participate in the biggest arena on the planet for the first time.
13. Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing)
The athlete born in 2001 is the first athlete to win an official place at an Olympic Games for Vietnamese canoeing. This rower from Vinh Phuc qualified in the Asian Olympic Qualifiers held in Japan this year. The athlete started her career in the Vinh Phuc wrestling team, but it was suitable when she switched to rowing. Compared to rowing, a sport with a long tradition in Vietnamese sports, canoeing is less prominent. At the 31st and 32nd SEA Games, Nguyen Thi Huong brought home 8 gold medals for Vietnamese sports.
14. Hoang Thi Tinh (Judo)
The girl born in 1994 is the only Vietnamese judo athlete to have officially qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Thanh Hoa native will compete in the 48kg category. This is an achievement that Hoang Thi Tinh has been striving for continuously for many years. The 30-year-old athlete has participated in 8 major international tournaments in the past 3 years to accumulate points. Hoang Thi Tinh came to Paris thanks to her 9th/10th ranking in Asia.
15. Tran Thi Nhi Yen (Athletics)
The number 1 athlete of Vietnamese women's athletics in the 100m and 200m speed races was granted a special ticket to Paris by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on July 8. Nhi Yen is a rising name in Vietnamese athletics and this could be the motivation for the girl born in 2005 to make significant progress in her career.
16. Vo Thi My Tien (byeah)
My Tien and Nhi Yen are two athletes from Long An and were both born in 2005 and received a special ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The International Swimming Federation (FINA) awarded a special ticket to the women's event for the Vietnamese swimming team and My Tien was included because she is the female swimmer with the highest score in the recent Olympic qualifying round (775 points), ranked above the 15-year-old talent Nguyen Thuy Hien (769 points).
