After 3 months of farming, mud loach can bring in a profit of over 180 million VND/ha, many times higher than other fish breeds, opening up a new direction in the aquaculture sector for Hai Duong farmers.
The Center for Application of Science and Technology and Breeding Testing (Department of Science and Technology) coordinated with 3 households in Vinh Hong commune (Binh Giang), Nam Trung, Quoc Tuan (Nam Sach) to raise 400,000 mud loach fish on an area of 1 hectare. After 3 months of raising, the center's staff assessed that the survival rate of fish was 80-85%, the fish grew and developed well, with a uniform growth rate, and no disease.
With the current selling price of more than 70,000 VND/kg, people can make a profit of more than 180 million VND/ha, much higher than the types of fish being raised locally.
The Center for Application of Science and Technology and Breeding Testing has also completed the process of raising and caring for mud loach fish to transfer the technique to farmers. Before raising, the pond is drained and dried, and the water is treated with biological products. The fish must be healthy, with a size of 0.2-0.5 g/fish. During the care process, the regime and feeding time must be adjusted appropriately for each age of growth and development of the fish.
That is the result of the implementation of the public service "Transfer of application of scientific and technological advances in the field of aquaculture - mud loach" organized by the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Breeding Testing on the morning of September 24 in Nam Trung commune (Nam Sach).
