This year, despite a poor harvest, the price of Thanh Ha lychee (Hai Duong) is three times higher than last year, and farmers still earn about 1,000 billion VND from this fruit.
By June 18, Thanh Ha farmers had finished harvesting all the lychee tea. This year, Thanh Ha lychee output reached about 25,000 tons, sold at an average price of 40,000 VND/kg, farmers earned about 1,000 billion VND, down about 400 billion VND compared to last year, not including seasonal lychee sources.
This year’s lychee harvest season only lasts for 1 month (previous years it took about 2 months). Due to the small quantity of lychees, traders do not use container trucks to buy them, but mainly use small trucks. Therefore, there is no traffic jam in the district.
According to the assessment of Thanh Ha district's professional departments, this year's lychee output has decreased by half compared to last year, but the price is three times higher. Due to the scarcity of lychees, consumption is mainly domestic, accounting for about 60%; the Chinese market accounts for 25%; and the markets of demanding countries account for 15%.
This season, there is no dried Thanh Ha lychee. Farmers clean up the garden and prune the lychee trees as they harvest, focusing on taking care of the trees to recover for a new bumper crop.
