Nigerian police said on May 30 that an armed group had killed a civilian and kidnapped several students after an attack in the central state of Niger.
Niger state police chief Adamu Usman said the students were kidnapped after unidentified gunmen attacked the Salihu Tanko Islamic School in Tegina, a town in the Rafi region.
According to Mr. Usman, a group of gunmen on motorbikes attacked the town on the afternoon of May 30, opening fire indiscriminately, killing one resident.
However, he did not give the exact number of students kidnapped in this incident. However, according to local media, more than 200 students were kidnapped.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
