Although newly established, the first three unions of Hai Duong are becoming a common 'home' for many workers.
Connect, share
In 2018, the Vietstar independent kindergarten group in Sao Do ward (Chi Linh city) was established with 7 teachers. Because it is a small educational institution without a trade union, protecting the rights of workers is difficult. In addition, cultural, artistic, and sports activities... have not received due attention, causing the spiritual life of workers to lack cohesion and sharing.
With the motto "Where there are workers, there is a trade union", the Chi Linh City Labor Federation has proactively coordinated to review and count the number of preschool groups in the area. From there, it plans to approach workers to propagate, mobilize, and guide them in writing applications to join the trade union. With the support of all levels and sectors, the Chi Linh City Labor Federation has quickly launched the province's first independent Preschool Education Facility Union with 30 union members.
According to Ms. Dinh Thi Nhan, President of the Chi Linh City Independent Preschool Education Facility Union, the union is the link that connects independent preschool education facilities in Chi Linh together. Since its establishment, teachers have often shared and helped each other in work as well as in life. Workers are also happier and more excited when their rights and interests are protected by the union. Currently, the union has 45 members from 8 independent preschool facilities, an increase of 15 members compared to when it was first established.
With many years of experience in the profession, Mr. Tran Van Dung in Hai Duong City seems to fully understand the difficulties and hardships of event organizers. Therefore, when receiving attention and support from trade unions at all levels, he boldly gathered colleagues in the profession to establish the Event Organization Union. He believes that the trade union will be a "shield" to protect workers from difficulties and challenges. This is also a common home for members to share experiences as well as support and help each other in their work.
"Currently, the union has 37 members. These are all businesses and business owners specializing in event organization. Joining the union has helped the units' work become more convenient and enjoyable. The members are also very active in sharing their professional experiences or difficulties and problems that need help," said Mr. Dung.
Protect workers' rights
Although newly established, the unions in the province have performed well in taking care of the lives of union members through practical and specific activities. Ms. Dinh Thi Hai Ha is one of the first union members to join the Chi Linh City Independent Preschool Education Union. Recently, her family experienced many storms when a relative passed away. With the care and encouragement of the union, she and her family overcame difficulties to return to normal life.
"My sister-in-law and I were both the first members of the Chi Linh City Independent Preschool Education Union. She passed away when she was quite young. During difficult times, the union became a spiritual support for the whole family. Not only caring and sharing, the union members also supported and helped financially so that my family could soon stabilize their lives," said Ms. Ha.
Along with Chi Linh, Kinh Mon Town Labor Federation has just launched the Independent Preschool Education Facility Union with 23 members. Although still young, the union has made many contributions to protecting the rights of workers. Most of the thoughts and aspirations of union members are promptly reflected and recommended by the union to all levels and sectors, making an important contribution to building harmonious and cohesive labor relations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation, the establishment of a union plays an important role in caring for and protecting the legal and legitimate rights of teachers and workers. This is also an official information channel to help raise awareness among union members in strictly complying with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws.
In recent times, the provincial trade unions have played a good role as a bridge between workers and authorities at all levels. In addition, they have effectively supported the resolution of disputes between workers and between workers and employers. Cultural, artistic and sports exchange activities have also been organized in a more in-depth and exciting manner, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and attachment.
