In Hai Duong, there are many examples of 'party members who go first' for 'the country to follow'. They are always exemplary and dedicated, dedicating all their efforts to the common good.
People trust
This year, party member Pham Minh Phuong of Lam Kieu village party cell, Le Hong commune, Thanh Mien district (Hai Duong) turns 45 years old in the Party. The joy is even more meaningful when on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), Ms. Phuong received many certificates of merit and was proposed to the Provincial Party Committee to award a certificate of merit for her contributions.
Ms. Phuong was born in 1952, a teacher from the remote Cao Bang province who moved to Hai Duong with her husband to live and work. At the age of 72, retired for 20 years, she has always been active in local association and union work. Currently, she still travels every day on an old electric bike to villages and communes to do association work for the elderly in the role of Vice President of the Association of the Elderly in Le Hong commune, and concurrently Head of the Association of the Elderly in Lam Kieu village.
No matter how far the distance, Ms. Phuong still traveled it all to do her job well. When she was working at the school, she was exemplary in her professional activities and union work. After retiring, she still devoted herself to the work of the Association of Former Teachers and the Association of the Elderly, having been entrusted by the people for the past 20 years.
In these last days of the year, Ms. Phuong is even busier with her public work. Having just finished coordinating the screening of subjects for the authorities at all levels to visit, give gifts to the elderly, and support the poor, she has started preparing to organize birthday celebrations, longevity celebrations, and cultural and sports activities to celebrate the Party and celebrate spring.
"When the people trust me and the organization assigns me a task, as a party member, I try to do it for the sake of the work and the common good. Things that seem small are actually very important, especially for the disadvantaged in rural areas, so I have to be dedicated and devoted," Ms. Phuong shared.
Do your best
Talking with party member Nguyen Huu Dung in the La Giang village party cell, Van To commune (Tu Ky), we saw Mr. Dung shed tears many times when recounting his journey to join the Party and contribute to his promise to the Party.
Mr. Dung was a special forces soldier, achieved feats in Da Nang at the age of 19, so he was admitted to the Party right on the battlefield. Leaving the battlefield as a 45% disabled veteran, Mr. Dung continued to live and fight for the noble ideals of a Party member.
He went to school, taught, and then worked as a manager. During his 4 years as Principal of Tu Ky II High School (2014 - 2018), Mr. Dung brought the school from the bottom of private high schools in the province to the top with the belief that education must first and foremost focus on quality.
Since 2001, when he had settled down with his children, Mr. Dung began to focus on local social activities.
His three children are all successful, the family's economy is not difficult, but the 72-year-old party member still diligently raises honey bees, saves every penny of his retired teacher's salary to save 15-20 million VND each year to give gifts to poor students who overcome difficulties, buy swings and exercise equipment for children, and give gifts to lonely people with no one to rely on every Tet holiday.
With these contributions, Mr. Dung was awarded a certificate of merit by the Prime Minister and many certificates of merit from various levels. This year, Mr. Dung is an excellent party member who was proposed to be awarded a certificate of merit by the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee.
Now, he is still passionate about promoting education and helping poor children. Although he is undergoing medical treatment, Mr. Dung still strongly affirms: "I will only rest when my hands can no longer work. I will strive until my last breath for the ideals and promises to the Party as a Party member."
For the common good
In 2018, after the National Relic Management Board of Dong Nien Pagoda in Viet Hoa Ward (Hai Duong City) had some unfortunate incidents related to revenue and expenditure, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh was elected by the people as Head of the Relic Management Board.
For 6 years, Mr. Thanh has been doing this job and has not received any monthly allowance. He has donated all the 300,000 VND he received to the relic.
When asked about an exemplary party member who has made many contributions to the common interests of the locality, the leader of the People's Committee of Viet Hoa ward immediately mentioned party member Nguyen Tien Thanh.
Mr. Thanh was born in 1954 in Zone 5, Viet Hoa Ward. He served in the army and was honored to be admitted to the Party while on a campaign in Laos. Returning to his hometown, he worked in the commune (now Viet Hoa Ward) and then retired as Chairman of the People's Council.
Since Mr. Thanh started working at the relic site, people have been excited and confident when many activities have been organized systematically, meaningfully, publicly and transparently. From 2018 to now, many large projects such as pagodas, three-door gates, and disarming houses with a cost of over 10 billion VND have been built at the relic site. In the near future, construction will begin on the communal house gate due to its deterioration.
Managing national relics, Mr. Thanh is not afraid to do many jobs, closely coordinating with specialized agencies at city and provincial levels in managing and renovating relics to ensure compliance with regulations.
Sharing with us, Mr. Thanh, Ms. Phuong, and Mr. Dung all share the same belief that when the collective and the people trust and entrust, they must do their best for the common good, and must be a leading example for everyone to follow.
