In mid-April, the construction site of Cay Bridge in Hung Thang Commune (Binh Giang) was bustling and bustling with dozens of engineers and workers working on many items. The Cay Bridge construction investment project belongs to the bypass of Road 394, invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project is a level II plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h. The total length of the bridge is 182m with 4 spans built permanently with prestressed reinforced concrete, 30m wide, divided into 2 separate bridge units. The project was deployed from March 20, 2024 and is expected to be completed in April 2025.

Mr. Hoang Duc Hien, in Long Xuyen commune (Binh Giang) as well as many people in Binh Giang are extremely excited because when the new Cay bridge is completed, it will not only solve the shortcomings of the old Cay bridge but also open up new opportunities and prospects for Binh Giang to develop. "The old Cay bridge was built in 1986, the bridge surface is only about 4 meters wide, two cars cannot avoid each other, local congestion in the bridge area often occurs, causing traffic insecurity. The new Cay bridge will meet the expectations of the people for many years", said Mr. Hien.

14 years ago, the opening of Hop Thanh bridge was also considered an important milestone, a historical turning point for the people of 6 communes of Ha Dong island in Thanh Ha district. Vice Chairman of Thanh Quang commune People's Committee Le Van Hai recalled: "That day, the old and young, men and women of 6 communes of Ha Dong island crowded together on the bridge for kilometers. Hop Thanh bridge connecting 6 communes of Ha Dong island with the center of Thanh Ha district has been the desire of the people for many years. The most touching image was the image of old people with gray hair, blurred eyes, weak legs but still asked their children and grandchildren to lead them up the bridge to see the new bridge".

The implementation of the Project to Renovate and Upgrade Provincial Road 390 from Hop Thanh Bridge to Quang Thanh Bridge, including the construction of a new bridge with a cross-section equal to the current Hop Thanh Bridge, 7 m wide, will be a double joy for local people. The construction of Hop Thanh 2 Bridge not only meets the increasing transportation demand, but also contributes to the development of regional traffic infrastructure according to the plan, creating favorable conditions to attract investment.

In early April, at the Hop Thanh bridge construction site, 60 engineers, workers and dozens of machines and equipment were divided into 5 construction teams, urgently building piers, piers and casting beams. Mr. Duong Quoc Khanh, Site Commander, said that by mid-April, the construction unit had completed all bored piles and some piers, and was continuing to construct the remaining piers and produce beams, estimated to have reached 30% of the volume. The project is expected to be completed in January 2025.

Hai Duong is implementing many connecting bridge projects. The East-West axis road project alone has 6 bridges, including 4 renovated and expanded bridges and 2 new bridges: Bac Hung Hai and Phi Xa bridges. Contractors are urgently constructing the items to complete them soon.

As a large-scale bridge among the bridges connecting the East-West axis, Bac Hung Hai bridge connects Ha Ky commune with Phuong Ky (Tu Ky) at km 33+100. The bridge is 339 m long, 12 m wide, with a total construction value of 174 billion VND. By mid-April, the project had reached about 80% of the volume, expected to be completed by June 30.

Development motivation

In addition to the bridges connecting localities in the province, Hai Duong also coordinated the implementation of many inter-provincial traffic connection projects. The Dong Viet bridge project and the connecting road connecting Chi Linh city and Yen Dung district (Bac Giang), Hai Duong invested in 5.3 km of the connecting road, with a total cost of more than 469 billion VND. The Hai Hung bridge project and the connecting road connecting the East-West axis of Hai Duong province with provincial road 389 in Phu Cu district (Hung Yen), Hai Duong invested in a 180 m long connecting road, with a cost of about 60 billion VND. The Kenh Vang bridge project and the connecting road connecting Nam Sach district with Luong Tai district (Bac Ninh), Hai Duong arranged a budget of about 519 billion VND for site clearance. The bridges and foreign traffic projects are the highlight of Hai Duong's traffic infrastructure development, continuing to open up expectations for new developments.

On many vital traffic routes, sturdy bridges not only connect the two banks, helping to reduce the distance between regions, but also create a synchronous and continuous traffic infrastructure system. With the goal of completing traffic infrastructure, paving the way for comprehensive development, Hai Duong has devoted many resources to implementing projects and connecting bridge works, gradually completing a synchronous and modern traffic infrastructure. From the regional connection works, new space has been created for Hai Duong to develop, which is an important driving force for Hai Duong to continue to break through, rise up, and stand shoulder to shoulder with developed localities.
