On January 21 (local time), Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova objected to US President Donald Trump's decision to put Cuba back on the list of countries accused of sponsoring terrorism.

The Russian Foreign Ministry statement acknowledged that Trump's move to reverse a decision made by his predecessor Joe Biden a few days ago "has no real connection with the fight against terrorism," and reminded that "the previous US administration stated that there was no evidence that Cuba supports international terrorism. And this remains an undeniable fact."

Ms. Zakharova affirmed that Russia will continue to provide the necessary support to Cuba in protecting its national sovereignty and demand an immediate and complete end to the embargo. Moscow will also continue to fight to remove Cuba from the list of countries accused of sponsoring terrorism drawn up by the US State Department.

On the same day, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun criticized the above decision of new US President Donald Trump and also "groundless accusations against Cuba to impose unilateral sanctions are baseless".

China stressed that the unilateral embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba “seriously violates international law and basic principles of international relations, causing profound disaster to the Cuban people, their economy and their quality of life,” and called on Washington to lift the entire embargo on Havana as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said the US decision was “baseless”, representing a “hostile act that contradicts the principles of international law and distorts global efforts for peace and cooperation”.

Mr. Gil emphasized that Venezuela resolutely condemns the unjust decision of US President Donald Trump and affirms that violations of the principles of respect for sovereignty such as the above decision only aim to "justify" the embargo measures against Cuba that have lasted for more than 60 years.
