Both doctors and patients work together

On the morning of January 29, when the doctor of the Department of Surgery 2 of Hai Duong General Hospital announced that her husband could return home before the 30th of Tet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xim (from Tu Ky) was overjoyed. Her husband fell nearly 3 months ago, had to have emergency surgery and has been treated ever since. "I still thought I would have to stay in the hospital this Tet so I was very sad. But the information from the doctor this morning made everyone in the family happy. Tet is coming, being able to return to the family is the happiest thing. I encourage my husband to try to eat and drink so that he can return to the children before Tet," Ms. Xim said.

Also in Department of Surgery 2, Mr. Phan The Cuong (74 years old, from Thanh Ha) is also eagerly waiting to be discharged from the hospital before Tet. "I suffered a traumatic brain injury and cervical spine injury and have been hospitalized for a week now. Now I am awake and will try to eat and rest so I can go home to reunite with my family," Mr. Cuong shared.

Doctor Vu Tri Hieu, Head of Department of Surgery 2, said that the patients being treated at the department have all suffered from accidents and serious injuries... The department has reviewed and assessed the health status of each patient. Those who recover and whose health improves quickly will be given special care and treatment with the best regimen so that they can return home before the 30th of Tet.

At the Department of Resuscitation and Emergency at Hai Duong Lung Hospital, medical staff are also making efforts to take care of patients. The condition of each patient is assessed daily. The best regimens are applied so that patients can recover as quickly as possible. Mr. Nguyen Dang Hai (60 years old, in Hai Duong City), who has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and is being treated at this department, said: "For the past 12 days, I have been taken care of very attentively by the doctors. I myself am also making efforts every day, trying to be discharged before Tet."

Director of Hai Duong Rehabilitation Hospital Nguyen Thi Lieu said that she has asked medical staff to focus on performing their duties of treating and caring for patients well. "Everyone wants to be reunited with their families during Tet. Therefore, we will try our best to help patients recover quickly and be able to return to their families to celebrate Tet and welcome spring," said Ms. Lieu.

Accompanying patients during Tet

Many patients being treated at Hai Duong medical facilities will be discharged before Tet. But certainly many patients will have to stay in the hospital during Tet for safety reasons.

On the morning of January 29, Hai Duong Lung Hospital still had 353 patients being treated. Master, Doctor Phan Thi Hoai Thu, Deputy Director of the hospital, said that the number of patients has never been as high as this year's Tet holiday. It is estimated that during the 2024 Tet holiday, there will be about 100 patients still being treated at the hospital.

Therefore, Hai Duong Lung Hospital has quickly implemented a plan to be on duty during Tet. This year, the Resuscitation - Emergency Department, Tuberculosis Department... will be reinforced with more doctors and nurses. Each department will establish teams to take turns on duty 24/7. On days when they are not on duty, staff are required to stay within the province, not to go far away to be ready to participate in emergency care and treatment of patients when mobilized," Dr. Thu informed.

The departments have issued plans for emergency care, medical examination and treatment, and epidemic prevention. In addition, the hospital has established 2 outpatient emergency teams, ready to provide emergency care for seriously ill and critical patients in the community.

"Compared to last year's Tet, this year's Tet we will increase the number of on-duty staff at departments that are expected to have many patients coming for emergency care and treatment such as Emergency, Resuscitation, Internal Medicine 2 (trauma, orthopedics), Internal Medicine 4 (Digestive)... Each shift will have 3 doctors and 11 nurses taking turns on duty 24/7," said Dr. Pham Hai Trung, Head of the Social Work Department of Hai Duong General Hospital.
