On September 2, the second day of the Independence Day holiday, there were 30 road traffic accidents nationwide, killing 18 people and injuring 23; there were no accidents on railways or waterways.

The Traffic Police Department said that on September 2, the second day of the Independence Day holiday, there were 30 road traffic accidents nationwide, killing 18 people and injuring 23 others.

There were no accidents on railways and waterways. Compared to the first day of the September 2nd holiday this year, traffic accidents increased in all three criteria; of which, there were 3 more cases, 1 death and 5 injuries.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, although traffic order and safety on highways and roads leading to tourist destinations were basically smooth on Monday and the two days of the holiday, there were no prolonged traffic jams or congestions; no particularly serious traffic accidents occurred. However, the traffic accident situation was complicated, with traffic accidents increasing in all three criteria of the number of cases, the number of deaths and the number of injuries compared to the same period of the 2022 holiday.

Notably, at 6:34 a.m. on September 2, at Km 1604-750m of National Highway 1A (traffic light area leading to Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet Expressway) in Vinh Hai village, Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province, a car with license plate 60A-668.00 driven by Nguyen Chi H., born in 2007, residing in Hamlet 5, Vinh Phu commune, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province, traveling in the direction of Binh Thuan-Ninh Thuan, hit 5 motorbikes with license plates 86F9-1167; 86B1-200.72; 59S2-946.19; 86B4-354.30 and 86B1-239.94 that were stopped at a red light in the same direction ahead.

The accident left five people injured; among them, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan N., residing in PH02, Lien Huong, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province, was seriously injured. Ms. Nguyen Thi H., Nguyen Thi L., Vo Thi Ngoc T., and Truong Thi T. suffered minor injuries. Five motorbikes and a car were damaged, with initial estimated damage of 60 million VND.

The initial cause was determined to be Nguyen Chi H. driving the car without paying attention, causing a traffic accident. The driver did not violate alcohol or drug levels.

From the afternoon of September 1 to the morning of September 2, throughout Hanoi and the gateway routes, beltways, inner-city routes and key radial axes of the capital (beltway 2, beltway 3, Phap Van, Nguyen Trai, Le Duan-Giai Phong, Dai La-Minh Khai, Kim Ma-Nguyen Thai Hoc, Cau Giay-Ho Tung Mau, Nguyen Van Linh-National Highway 5..., on the roads leading to Vinh Tuy, Long Bien, Chuong Duong, Thanh Tri, Nhat Tan bridges and vice versa), vehicles moved stably, smoothly, and traffic volume was normal.

On the expressways Phap Van-Cau Gie-Ninh Binh, Hanoi-Lao Cai, Hanoi-Hai Phong, Hanoi-Thai Nguyen, traffic volume is normal, moving steadily, no traffic jams occur.

On the routes leading to the gateway of Ho Chi Minh City to the Eastern and Western provinces; the Port area (Hanoi Highway, Phuoc Long ICD); National Highway 1A, the expressways of Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay, Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong-My Thuan, traffic is heavy, moving slowly, without serious congestion.

On the road, local traffic police inspected, detected and handled 8,868 violations; imposed fines of over VND18.2 billion; detained 152 cars, 2,831 motorbikes, 30 other vehicles; revoked 1,773 driving licenses of all kinds. Of which, 2,282 cases violated alcohol concentration; 1,480 cases violated speed; 100 cases violated overload; 19 cases exceeded the size limit.

Highway traffic control patrol teams and the Traffic Police Department inspected and recorded 43 violations, imposed fines of VND103.9 million, revoked driving licenses of 11 cases, and temporarily detained 5 vehicles. The monitoring system of the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Teams detected 240 violations.

On the waterway, the waterway police force inspected, detected and handled 73 violations, imposing fines of 99 million VND.
