The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and space exploration company SpaceX are expected to launch a spacecraft carrying a new crew to the International Space Station (ISS) on September 26.
On September 19, NASA announced that astronaut Nick Hague (USA) and astronaut Aleksandr Gorbunov (Russia) are preparing to carry out the Crew-9 mission to the ISS. SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft and the two experts are expected to be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida (USA).
According to NASA, Crew-9 will conduct new scientific research to prepare for human exploration beyond low Earth orbit and benefit humanity.
Crew-9 will be the ninth rotating crew to the ISS since 2020, when NASA astronauts were first brought to the space station.
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who were launched to the ISS on Boeing's Starliner spacecraft last June, will return home with colleagues Hague and Gorbunov in February 2025.
