On the morning of April 5, a 5th grade student at Vinh Truong Primary School, Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa) died, many other students from 2 schools were taken to the hospital due to symptoms of food poisoning.
On the morning of April 5, Mr. Cao Dinh Trung - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nha Trang City - confirmed that "A female 5th grade student of Vinh Truong Primary School has just died after being taken to the emergency room at Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital".
According to Mr. Trung, on the morning of April 5, he ate breakfast outside when going to school. After entering the classroom, he showed signs of food poisoning and was taken by the school to Khanh Hoa General Hospital for emergency treatment but later died.
In addition to the above student, also on the morning of April 5, many other students from 2 schools in Vinh Truong ward also showed signs of food poisoning. They were students from Vinh Truong Primary School and Tran Hung Dao Secondary School.
According to Mr. Trung, the above students of the two schools all had breakfast outside the school. When they entered the classroom, they showed signs of food poisoning and the school called a car to take them to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
"Any student showing signs of food poisoning was immediately taken to the hospital by the school. Apart from the female student who died, most of the remaining students showed mild symptoms," said Mr. Trung.
Mr. Trung also said that according to the schools' reports, the students who suffered food poisoning all said that they ate chicken rice when they ate breakfast outside this morning.
As for the case of the 5th grade female student who died, in addition to showing signs of food poisoning and having to be taken to the emergency room, according to hospital information, this female student also had an underlying heart condition.
However, Mr. Trung also made it clear that the cause of death of the 5th grade student of Vinh Truong School as well as the cause of food poisoning symptoms for many students of both Vinh Truong Primary School and Tran Hung Dao Secondary School are being investigated and verified by the Police and other authorities, together with Vinh Truong Ward and the schools, and there are currently no official results or conclusions.
Recently, in Nha Trang City, there was also a food poisoning incident for many people, including tourists, who ate chicken rice at a restaurant in Nha Trang.
