After eating chicken rice sold near Nguyen Van Troi High School, Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa), many students had symptoms of poisoning such as vomiting, stomachache... and had to be hospitalized.
On the morning of April 1, the leader of Khanh Hoa General Hospital quickly informed that the number of patients being treated after eating chicken rice poisoning is 5, the patients were hospitalized since March 30.
Yersin Nha Trang General Hospital is currently treating 1 case. Here, PHA (11th grade student at Nguyen Van Troi High School) said: "I ate chicken rice and chicken spaghetti in the morning and afternoon of March 29, the next morning I had a stomachache, vomited... I couldn't stand it anymore so I was hospitalized.
Each meal costs from 10,000 - 20,000 VND depending on the dish. When I ate, I didn't notice anything unusual. There were 3 street vendors, but I bought from the lady sitting at the corner of an alley on Han Thuyen Street near the school, and she was the only one selling both morning and afternoon."
Previously, on March 31, statistics showed that there were 10 cases being treated with symptoms of abdominal pain and diarrhea, and no patients had serious developments in the hospitals.
The Department of Food Safety and Hygiene coordinated with relevant agencies to conduct an investigation.
The working group went to hospitals to investigate patient epidemiology and to identify the person selling rice on the sidewalk opposite the school.
Currently, there are 3 households cooking at home and then bringing it to sell in front of the school gate. One household in Van Thang ward has been investigated.
"The patients ate chicken rice in front of the school gate on March 29 and were then hospitalized. Currently, the authorities have taken samples for testing, but the collection of food samples is still being carried out," informed the leader of Khanh Hoa Department of Health.
Previously, in mid-March 2024, the chicken rice poisoning incident at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant (Nha Trang city) caused 368 people to go to medical facilities for examination and treatment.
In chicken dishes, egg sauce, pickles... bacteria Salmonella, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus were found.
Tap water samples collected from the processing area tap contained Escherichia coli and Coliform bacteria. Well water samples collected from the storage tank contained Escherichia coli, Coliform bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
