The major update of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport appeared at the Mitsubishi booth at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024, which was already extremely crowded with many new names.
The second facelift version of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has appeared publicly at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 (BIMS 2024) just over a week after its official launch. This is one of four notable new names appearing at the Japanese brand's booth, alongside the new Xpander/Xpander Cross HEV and Triton Athlete.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is the second mid-life facelift of the 3rd generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport launched in 2015. The first major update was launched by the company in 2019.
The most obvious change of the Pajero Sport facelift comes from the transmission. The engine has been changed from the old 4N15 to the 4N16 2.4L turbocharged diesel like the new Triton. This 2.4L engine has the parameters of 184 horsepower, 430Nm (capacity increased by 3 horsepower, torque remains the same).
The gearbox that comes with the engine has been changed from an 8-speed to a 6-speed automatic. The drive options are a default single-wheel drive and a premium 2-wheel drive. The exhaust system now meets EURO 5 standards instead of EURO 4 like the old version. Fuel consumption is announced at 6.58 liters/100km, down 13% compared to before.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2024 still retains the dimensions of 4,825 x 1,815 x 1,835 (mm). The wheelbase of 2,800mm, ground clearance of 218mm or fuel tank capacity of 68 liters are also unchanged parameters. Because the frame size remains the same, the overall shape of the vehicle also remains unchanged.
On the outside, the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has a radiator with a new front bumper at the front of the car, a new rear bumper at the rear and new 18-inch alloy wheels at the side. The rest of the car's exterior remains unchanged.
In the cabin, in addition to the cosmetic color changes, the steering wheel and seat interface have been slightly refreshed. In addition, the old clock cluster has now been converted into a fully digital clock panel with a size of 8 inches on the high-end versions.
Some notable equipment appearing on the exterior of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2024 include Bi-LED Projector headlights, LED daytime running lights/fog lights/taillights/brake lights, automatic front wipers, electrically folding side mirrors, exterior chrome trim, hands-free electric tailgate, ceiling-mounted silver racks, rear spoiler and body-colored shark fin antenna.
Inside, the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has two 8-way power front seats, anti-glare rearview mirrors, smart keys, multi-zone automatic air conditioning with rear seat vents and paddle shifters.
Nano X air filtration system, electronic handbrake, charging ports in the center console and 2 rear seats, 8-inch entertainment touchscreen, satellite navigation and 12.1-inch rear entertainment screen supporting HDMI/USB connection appear on high-end versions.
The safety array on the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2024 is also clearly separated between the standard configuration and the high-end configurations.
Standard versions have ABS brakes, electronic brake force distribution EBD, brake assist BA, balance control SC, traction control TC, hill start assist HSA, hill descent assist HDC, rear differential lock, rear parking assist sensor and panoramic camera.
Meanwhile, the high-end versions have 3 more airbags (total 10, the regular version has 7), blind spot warning, lane change warning, rear cross-traffic warning and front parking assist sensors.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has a starting price of 1,389,000 baht, equivalent to 953.8 million VND. The highest-end version has a listed price of 1,689,000 baht, equivalent to 1.16 billion VND.
Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 will take place over 12 days from March 27 to April 7, 2024, on a 76,000 m2 site at Impact Challenger (Hall 1-3) and Impact Forum Hall 4, Bangkok, Thailand. Before that, there will be 2 days reserved for the press.
This year's event welcomed 49 leading car and motorbike brands interested in attending, along with 20 newly launched vehicles.
