This weekend, cold air is forecast to make the Northern and North Central regions turn cold, ending the prolonged humid conditions.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the North, a cold air mass is moving south.

From around the afternoon and night of March 15, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast, North Central and some places in the Northwest; then affect other places in the Northwest, Central Central and some places in the South Central.

From the night of March 15, the weather in the North and North Central regions will turn cold, with some mountainous areas in the North experiencing severe cold, ending the prolonged humid weather. From around March 17, the weather will turn cold in the area from Quang Binh to Hue.

The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North is generally from 13 - 16 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas below 10 degrees Celsius; North Central region is generally 14 - 17 degrees Celsius; Quang Binh to Hue is generally 17 - 19 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area from the night of March 15th, the weather turned cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 14 - 16 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological agency warned that due to the influence of the strengthening cold air, from the evening and night of March 15 to the early morning of March 16, the Northern and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Cold weather, severe cold, and frost can affect livestock and poultry; and the growth and development of crops.

Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
