Smelly shoes affect your confidence and make people around you feel uncomfortable. Wearing smelly shoes will also cause mold on your feet, which is harmful to your health.

Here are some effective tips to deodorize shoes without having to wash them often.

Use baking soda

Use two teaspoons of baking soda and place them on a thin paper towel, then fold it and secure it with a rubber band. After taking off your shoes, put the deodorant bag deep inside your shoes. Sweat in shoes is acidic, while baking soda is alkaline and is effective in neutralizing acid. Moreover, paper towels and baking soda are both dry and have good water absorption, so they can absorb moisture inside the shoes.

Leave this deodorizing bag overnight, the shoes will dry and no longer have an unpleasant smell the next day. If you want your shoes to smell better, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture above.

Spray alcohol on shoe insoles

Once home, take out the insoles and spray alcohol directly inside.

Alcohol has antibacterial and antiseptic properties and can eliminate some bacteria that cause unpleasant odors. Moreover, alcohol evaporates very quickly, so after spraying the shoes, they should be dried in the air in a cool place. You should also spray alcohol on the front and back of the shoes to kill bacteria and clean the odors that stick to them. This method can eliminate odors in shoes without having to wash them frequently.

Use dry tea bags

Tea bags are highly absorbent, so when placed in shoes, they will draw moisture out of the fabric. The more fragrant the tea, the more effective the deodorizing effect.

Put a pinch of tea in a paper towel, wrap it with a rubber band, and leave it in your shoes overnight. After 24 hours, the shoes will smell faintly of tea and the musty smell will be gone completely. You can also use used tea leaves, dry them in the sun, and reuse them.

In addition to the above method, you can use old newspaper to deodorize shoes. Crumple the newspaper and stuff it deep into the shoes. This method not only absorbs moisture well, shapes the shoes but also prevents bacteria from growing. Similar to baking soda or tea bags, put the newspaper in the shoes for a day and take it out to check the next day.

In addition to the above methods, you should apply some of the following ways to deodorize shoes so you don't have to wash them often.

- Replace insoles every three months.

- If your feet sweat a lot, sprinkle some baby powder in your shoes or apply it to your feet before putting on your shoes.

- When shoes are wet, dry them in a dry place and avoid wearing wet shoes.

- Changing socks regularly is also an effective way to prevent odors.
