The Criminal Police Department of Dak Lak Province Police has successfully dismantled a fraud case that used superstitious tricks to lure people into practicing "enlightenment and become immortals" to appropriate nearly 100 billion VND.
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation and professional measures, the Criminal Police Department of Dak Lak Province Police discovered that in a large area of land in Ea Khal Commune, Ea H'leo District, there was a construction of an ancestral temple and 6 hermitages to serve many people from many provinces and cities coming to practice. The practice activities here had many unclear things and showed signs of fraudulent behavior to appropriate property.
Through investigation, the above-mentioned farmland, which is more than 6 hectares wide, was bought by Nguyen Anh Tuan (39 years old) and his wife Nguyen Thi Nho (37 years old), both residing in Tan An ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province, to build hermitages to attract people to practice.
Searching the residence, the authorities discovered that in 2021, during their practice, Tuan and his wife saw many people with very good economic conditions who wanted to quickly practice to "attain the path" soon, so they had the intention of defrauding and appropriating property.
After purchasing more than 6 hectares of agricultural land in village 3, Ea Khal commune, Ea H'leo district, Tuan and his wife asked the victims to pay money to build a family temple and 6 rooms for religious practice. At the same time, they introduced items that could help them practice and quickly attain enlightenment.
These items are sold widely on the market at very cheap prices, but Tuan and his wife exaggerate that they are very rare and very difficult to find because they are very old and have been blessed by many monks around the world. From there, they sell them to the victims at very expensive prices.
To create more trust, Nho also created many Gmail accounts impersonating masters and nuns who had attained enlightenment, had the ability to separate their souls and travel around the world, and move objects with magical powers to send messages to lure and force victims to buy objects for their practice.
In addition, Tuan and his wife hired people to bury objects in different locations on the farmland and lied to the victim that the master had used magic to move them there. At the same time, they hired someone to pretend to be the master "Hoang Milan" to come and teach Buddhism.
Because of trust, many victims spent tens of billions of dong to buy items from Tuan and Nho.
During the emergency search, the police seized 10 land use right registration certificates; 3 savings cards worth nearly 12 billion VND; 1 car worth 2.7 billion VND, more than 100 million VND in cash; 2 motorbikes; many gold jewelry and hundreds of related practice objects. Initially, the police clarified that Tuan and his wife used the trick of practicing to gain enlightenment to deceive 3 victims and appropriate nearly 100 billion VND.
Currently, the police have arrested the couple Nguyen Anh Tuan and Nguyen Thi Nho and continue to expand the investigation to handle them according to the provisions of the law.
