While going uphill, the engine died and the brakes failed, the excavator rolled down the embankment in the center of Ha Long City, Quang Ninh, killing the driver.
On March 3, information from the People's Committee of Bach Dang Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh said the incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. the same day at the church slope area.
According to initial information, the excavator was driven by Mr. NNĐ. (born in 1978, residing in Cao Thang ward, Ha Long city) in the direction of the slope of Hon Gai church.
When the vehicle was moving up to the area near the top of the slope, it stalled, lost its brakes and slid down the embankment. The accident caused Mr. D. to die on the spot and the excavator to be severely damaged. The incident is being verified and investigated by the authorities.
