On the night of October 4 to the morning of October 5, in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), a forest fire occurred, burning down about 10 hectares of forest.
According to the People's Committee of Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), by dawn on October 5, hundreds of people from many forces had extinguished the fire in Hong Ha and Ha Trung wards.
The fire burned down about 10 hectares of forest.
According to initial information, at noon on October 4, a resident in Zone 7, Hong Ha Ward, collected garden trash to burn and then went to another area. After hearing a crackling sound, this person returned and saw the fire spreading to the forest area and immediately reported it to the local authorities.
After receiving the information, the People's Committee of Hong Ha ward mobilized all forces and means to approach the fire from many directions, actively implementing measures to put out the fire.
However, the burning area consisted of trees that had been broken and fallen by storm No. 3, so when the wind blew, the fire flared up faster. The fire then spread to zone 5 of Hong Ha ward and part of Ha Trung ward.
On the other hand, a large number of fallen trees and narrow, steep access roads made it difficult for firefighters to move. Fire trucks could not reach the scene.
Therefore, the forces used blowers and hand tools to contain and extinguish the fire. By about 5:00 p.m. on October 4, the fire was basically under control.
However, at around 9 p.m. the same day, the fire broke out again. The forces continued to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading to residential areas.
By around 1:30 a.m. on October 5, the fire was under control and extinguished. Authorities at the scene were still ready to handle any re-ignition to prevent the fire from spreading.
The cause of the fire is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities.
Over the past week, there have been continuous forest fires in Quang Ninh province, threatening people's safety.
