According to a VNA correspondent in South Africa, a large landslide occurred at a construction site in the coastal town of Ballito in the country's KwaZulu-Natal province.
Local officials said the incident on May 18 claimed the lives of four workers, while another worker was buried. Rescuers are currently trying to rescue the worker. The rescue operation has been interrupted several times due to secondary landslides.
The landslide occurred just one day after South Africa ended the rescue operation and searched for victims' bodies at the 5-storey building under construction that collapsed on May 6 in George City, Western Cape Province. After 260 hours of effort, the rescue team found 62 people. Of these, 33 people died, 10 people are currently being treated in hospital and 19 others have been discharged.
