Trinh Thu Vinh's 4th place in the women's 10m air pistol final probably still makes many Vietnamese fans regretful.
Trinh Thu Vinh shot excellently from the qualifying round to the final day. The girl born in 2000 had once reached 3rd place in the final match, however, 2 shots of 9.2 and 9.7 caused Thu Vinh to drop to the group that did not qualify for a medal. She had to accept 4th place, when her Indian opponent also competed excellently.
At 2:00 p.m. on August 2, Trinh Thu Vinh continued to compete in the women's 25m pistol event. The qualifying round had 41 athletes, the 8 best names will enter the final round.
30 minutes later, athlete Pham Thi Hue will participate in the final competition day in the D final (classification 19-24), heavyweight single sculls 2000m.
Facing very strong opponents in the quarterfinals, especially Karolien Florijn of the Netherlands, Pham Thi Hue soon fell to 6th place. However, the "oldest rowing sister" still competed with great effort and finished in 7 minutes 56.96 seconds.
This is the most impressive number of the Vietnamese rower at the 2024 Olympics, but she cannot compete with the world's top athletes.
The spotlight will be on athlete Tran Thi Nhi Yen of the Vietnamese track and field team. She will compete in the women's 100m track and field event, starting in lane 2. Nhi Yen is currently ranked 227th in the world, the highest in the Olympic qualifying lane.
Her personal record (100m: 11.40 seconds) is also very good compared to the other competitors in the same lane. Nhi Yen's biggest concern is Halle Hazzard of Grenada. The girl born in 1999 is only 1m68 tall, but has a personal record of 11.28 seconds in the 100m race.
The Vietnamese sports delegation closed the competition day on August 2 with the appearance of Vo Thi My Tien. She will compete in the qualifying round of the swimming event - 200m medley.
