Ahead of the Vietnam team's opening match in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized the importance of the match and hoped his players would score as many goals as possible.
"The first match of the Vietnamese team in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup is very important. We are playing at home and have prepared well. Hopefully, the Vietnamese team will score many goals and bring an exciting match to the audience," head coach Kim Sang-sik said at the opening press conference before the match with the Lao team on the afternoon of March 24.
Despite highly appreciating the three new naturalized players on the Laos team, Klein, Roman Angot and Victor Ngovinassack, the Korean coach still affirmed his determination to help the Vietnamese team win tickets to the 2027 Asian Cup Finals. "We have to score many goals in the first half," coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized.
Regarding the absence of Nguyen Xuan Son, the "captain" of the Vietnamese team confided: "Perhaps many people still regret it, but Xuan Son is recovering well. In the match against the Laos team, I believe Tien Linh will complete his task well."
Attending the press conference with head coach Kim Sang-sik, striker Nguyen Tien Linh said the whole team is determined to win for the fans.
The owner of the title "Vietnam Golden Ball 2024" also shared about the motivation when playing at home at Go Dau Stadium: "Being cheered on by my family is both a motivation and a responsibility. I hope I will play well and contribute to helping the Vietnamese team win the final victory," Tien Linh shared.
