Workers in 11 craft villages of Tu Ky district are earning from 2-6 million VND/person/month.
An Nhan bamboo and rattan craft village (Tu Ky town) has 100 workers, but they are mainly elderly people.
According to the People's Committee of Tu Ky district, 11 craft villages in the district are creating jobs for more than 1,000 local workers with incomes ranging from 2-6 million VND/person/month. Workers in the two craft villages of carpentry and blacksmithing, Kiem Tan (Quang Nghiep commune) and embroidery village of Nhu Tinh (Quang Khai commune) have the highest income, reaching 6 million VND/person/month.
To increase income for craft village workers, the district’s localities have actively supported the search for markets for their products. The district has selected a number of craft villages to include in its local tourism development project so that they can both sell their products and develop accompanying services.
Most of the craft villages in Tu Ky district were recognized with the title since 2004. Through the development process, the number of households practicing the craft has decreased significantly.
