Craft villages in Hai Duong province are bustling, urgently producing and trading goods to serve the Lunar New Year 2025.
In Dong Thon village, Quoc Tuan commune (Nam Sach) these days, the bustling atmosphere has penetrated into every alley and family. Each incense-making facility in the village has a different stage: drying incense, packaging... to deliver to customers in time.Taking advantage of the cloudy weather to pack products, Ms. Pham Thi Huong said: “From now until Tet, I and the workers at the incense making facilities in the village will start working overtime at night. Every year, the closer to Tet, the stronger the consumption of Quoc Tuan’s incense products. This is also an opportunity for people in the profession like us to work overtime to earn more income.”At the incense making facilities in Duong Thai Bac village, Phu Thai town (Kim Thanh), the atmosphere is also bustling and busy. Some people roll incense, others pluck incense rhythmically from morning till night.Ms. Tran Thi Thao (left), owner of an incense making facility here, said: “Every year, near Tet, my family has to hire 3-4 more workers. We still mainly make incense by hand, so the output is not high. During Tet, even though we increase capacity, there is still not enough to sell on the market.”Duong Thai Bac traditional incense making village is best known for its giant 1.5 m long incense sticks that are not available everywhere. At this time, households are focusing all their efforts on producing incense for the Lunar New Year. Empty spaces in the house and yard are used to dry incense. To meet the Tet shipments, the rice paper making facilities in Dao Lam village, Doan Tung commune (Thanh Mien) work day and night. The end of the year is the time when salty and sweet cakes and gac cakes are consumed very strongly.Mr. Pham Dinh Trung, owner of a grilled rice paper establishment in Dao Lam, happily said: “My family hired 3 more workers to help increase production to 2,000 cakes/day. Although market demand is high, the selling price of cakes is still stable at 10,000 VND/piece. Those of us who work in the profession just hope to produce a lot at the end of the year to make a profit.”At the gac rice paper production facilities in Ke Sat town (Binh Giang), the working atmosphere is also bustling. Constantly adjusting the gac flour milling machine, Mr. Bui Huy Dac, owner of the Dac Su gac rice paper production facility, said: "At this time, my family has increased the capacity to 40 kg of rice per day. Together with other ingredients, the facility produces 70 kg of products per day."Mr. Dac's grandchildren took advantage of their school hours to help their grandparents prepare ingredients to make cakes. The Tet atmosphere has permeated all craft villages. The consumption output during Tet increases many times compared to normal days, which has brought joy and a significant source of income to those who are maintaining traditional occupations.QUYET TUAN
