The new fastback-designed KIA K5 sedan has just been introduced in Korea with many valuable upgrades in design and operation.
The 5th generation KIA K5 was first launched globally in late 2019 with a drastic change in both exterior and interior. After nearly 5 years of launch, the Korean automaker has officially introduced the mid-life upgrade version of this mid-size sedan.
In terms of exterior, KIA still retains the overall design language of the current K5 version. The designers only slightly changed the LED structure of the headlights. In addition, the front bumper air intake has been adjusted, similar to the pure electric car KIA EV6 GT-Line. The company also added 2 new exterior paint colors: Wolf Gray and matte Moonscape Gray, along with a new multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheel design.
The mid-life upgraded KIA K5 only has some slight changes in exterior details.
The rear of the KIA K5 facelift also has many changes. The continuous taillight cluster is now designed with the Starmap style found on new KIA models, extending down to the rear bumper. The luggage compartment lid is also redesigned with a ducktail shape and a sportier rear bumper diffuser, accompanied by a dual exhaust cluster.
The interior of the new KIA K5 has also been changed to be more modern. The most prominent is the appearance of a digital dashboard and a central entertainment screen connected together, both 12.3 inches in size. The mechanical buttons in this position have also been removed. The air conditioning system adjustment area has also been changed, the gear lever is made smaller with a rotating mechanism.
Customers can choose from new interior colors such as Black, Sand Beige and Martian Brown. The “Black Fit” exterior and interior trim option adds a black suede headliner, along with 18- or 19-inch wheels, black mirror caps, rear diffuser and exhaust outlets.
The car's interior has been modernized and comes with many new comfort options.
With the new entertainment system, KIA K5 is added with software updates via wireless protocol, control of vehicle features via smartphone, fingerprint control system, wireless charging and optional 12-speaker Krell premium sound system.
In terms of operation, the KIA K5 in Korea is equipped with 4 types of naturally aspirated 2.0L, turbocharged 1.6L, mild hybrid 2.0L and hybrid engines, with power of 160 horsepower, 180 horsepower, 146 horsepower and 195 horsepower respectively. The suspension system is also refined to provide a more comfortable driving experience, while supporting the car's soundproofing ability more effectively.
In Korea, the KIA K5 is distributed at prices ranging from 20,500 USD to 29,100 USD, depending on the different equipment and engines. Currently, the KIA K5 is distributed in Vietnam with 3 versions, with prices ranging from 859 million VND to 999 million VND.
