During the process of resolving a land use rights dispute, Mr. Vo Dinh Som (Judge of Gia Lai Provincial People's Court) demanded that the litigant named T. pay 500 million VND to help Mr. T. win the lawsuit.
Judge Vo Dinh Som was prosecuted and temporarily detained to investigate the crime of accepting bribes.
On August 15, the Investigation Agency of the Supreme People's Procuracy issued a decision to prosecute and order the temporary detention of Mr. Vo Dinh Som (Judge of the People's Court of Gia Lai province) to investigate the crime of "Receiving bribes," according to the provisions of Article 354 of the Penal Code.
According to the initial investigation results, Mr. Vo Dinh Som was assigned to handle and try a civil case of land use rights dispute.
However, during the process of resolving the lawsuit, Mr. Som demanded that the litigant named T. pay 500 million VND to help Mr. T. win the lawsuit.
Previously, on August 4, the Investigation Agency of the Supreme People's Procuracy executed an emergency detention order and searched Mr. Vo Dinh Som's office at the Gia Lai Provincial People's Court, discovering and seizing 500 million VND, the amount that Mr. T. had given to Mr. Som upon request.
The case is being handled by the Supreme People's Procuracy Investigation Agency according to regulations.
