Prosecution of Director of Bac Ninh Department of Finance Nguyen Kim Thoai

On July 19, Bac Ninh Provincial Police announced that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute the accused, ordered a search of the residence and workplace, and applied preventive measures to prohibit leaving the place of residence against Mr. Nguyen Kim Thoai (Director of the Department of Finance of Bac Ninh Province) for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 356 of the 2015 Penal Code.

In addition to Mr. Thoai, three other defendants in Gia Binh town were also prosecuted for the same crime, including: Nguyen Xuan Trung (born in 1983, in Phu Ninh village), Nguyen Xuan Nghi (born in 1952, in Huong Vinh village), and Nguyen Quang Kien (born in 1979, residing in Huong Vinh village).

The defendants are all involved in the case of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" that occurred in Gia Binh town (Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province).

Regarding this case, previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Ninh Province Police prosecuted 11 defendants. During the period from 2009 to 2018, the defendants committed acts of land allocation in violation of the law.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Thoai (born in 1963, residing in Cau Dao village, Nhan Thang commune, Gia Binh district) was the Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Gia Binh district.

Previously, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Kim Thoai, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Finance of Bac Ninh province from July 16, 2024.
