Video has captured the shocking moment survivors of a horrific plane crash were pulled from the wreckage.

According to the Dailymai newspaper on December 25, in the accident that caused an Azerbaijan Airlines plane to crash near Aktau (western Kazakhstan), 38 people died and 29 survived.

The flight departed from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to the Russian city of Grozny, flew over the Republic of Dagestan along the Caspian Sea, and disappeared from radar. About an hour later, the plane reappeared but flew off course, flying low over the sea near western Kazakhstan, then crashed and burst into flames.

A new video has emerged showing some survivors escaping from the wreckage. The plane was split in two after the crash. People were trying to get into the back of the plane to look for survivors. The video shows a person's legs being pulled out of the plane, then the camera pans to show the person sitting on the ground.

In the video, people can be heard crying and screaming. A man can be seen limping away from the scene.

According to Russia's Interfax news agency, Kazakh authorities said they have begun investigating various possibilities, including technical issues.

Video footage filmed by a passenger shows horrific scenes as people pray, some oxygen masks are lowered, and damage inside the plane's cabin minutes before it crashed and broke apart in Kazakhstan.

Another video shows the chaos inside the plane after the crash as rescuers enter the severed tail section, where people are lying on the floor. Incredibly, some are still alive.

A trapped woman called for help. A firefighter asked her if she needed help getting up and she confirmed that she needed to be lifted out of the rubble.

The 29 survivors of the crash were all sitting in the tail of the plane, while the front was severely damaged by fire.

At a press conference in Kazakhstan's capital Astana, Kazakhstan's prosecutor general Timur Suleimenov said the plane's black box had been found. Kazakhstan has set up a government commission to investigate the crash and said it will cooperate with Azerbaijan in the investigation.

Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that according to initial reports, the plane changed direction due to bad weather, but the cause of the accident has not yet been determined exactly and must be fully investigated.

Russia's aviation watchdog said a collision with a flock of birds may have been the cause. Azerbaijan Airlines has suspended flights from Baku to Russia's Chechnya region until the investigation is complete.

Azerbaijan declared a national day of mourning on December 26. Many countries expressed solidarity and sent condolences to the Government and people of Azerbaijan over the accident.
