The man who murdered a 17-year-old girl and dismembered her body and dumped it in the Red River was sentenced to death.

On September 30, the Hanoi People's Court reopened the trial of defendant Ta Duy Khanh (born in 1985, from Thai Binh, residing in Gia Lam district, Hanoi) for murder and robbery. The victim in the case is Ms. HYN (born in 2006, in Hanoi).

After half a day of trial, the Hanoi People's Court decided to sentence defendant Ta Duy Khanh to death for murder and 5 years in prison for robbery. The combined sentence for both crimes is death.

The trial process showed that in early 2021, Ta Duy Khanh worked as a broker, introducing female employees to serve drinks to customers in need in Hanoi. Through work, Khanh got to know Ms. N. and was introduced by Ms. N. as Thanh, born in 2000.

During their acquaintance, Khanh repeatedly introduced Ms. N. to drink with her for 2 million VND/time/4 hours, Khanh received 25% of the amount the customer paid Ms. N.

Around April 2022, Khanh lent Ms. N. 60 million VND with an interest rate of 2,000 VND/million/day (equivalent to an interest rate of 73%/year). By the end of 2022, Ms. N. paid Khanh 5 million VND in principal and interest. Khanh then asked for the money many times but the girl had not paid.

On the afternoon of October 10, 2023, Khanh called Ms. N., lying that there was a guest who wanted to meet her at Khanh's house. Believing her, Ms. N. went to the defendant's house. Afterwards, Khanh invited Ms. N. to eat and drink.

Late that night, Khanh and N. went into a house in Gia Lam district. There, Khanh asked Ms. N. for the principal amount of 57 million VND. Ms. N. said she did not have the money to pay and took off the ring she was wearing and gave it to Khanh to confirm the debt payment.

Khanh did not agree and asked Ms. N. to write an IOU and leave her ID card as collateral, but the girl did not comply. Thinking that Ms. N. had the money but did not pay, Khanh kicked Ms. N. in the back, causing the girl to hit her head on the coffee table and faint.

Seeing Ms. N. faint, Khanh dragged the victim into the bathroom, used the shower hose to spray water on her face and head. Then, the defendant left the victim lying on the bathroom floor and went out to the living room to drink water.

A moment later, Ms. N. woke up screaming. Seeing this, Khanh came in with a knife and threatened N., telling her to be quiet. Seeing Khanh holding a knife, Ms. N. became even more frightened and continued screaming. Angry, Khanh beat and murdered the young woman.

When the victim died, Khanh searched the girl's belongings, took her phone and lipstick, and at the same time had the idea of ​​taking Ms. N's body to the Red River and dumping it to hide his crime...

After dumping the victim's body, Khanh called the taxi driver to come back and pick him up. On the evening of October 11, 2023, fearing that Ms. N's body would be discovered by people on the banks of the Red River, Khanh rode his motorbike back to check and continued to find ways to submerge the victim's body in the river with blankets and rocks around. The next afternoon, the defendant continued to buy cement to create concrete to cover the victim's body to hide it.

On October 16, 2023, Khanh was arrested by the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency.
