The Directorate General of Immigration under the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights has just established a special task force to focus on handling foreign tourists who violate Indonesian laws, regulations and standards.

Director General of Indonesia's Immigration Directorate, Silmy Karrim, said that members of the "Bali Becik" task force came from the Directorate General of Immigration of Indonesia, Bali Immigration Agency, Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Immigration Office, Bali Capital Denpasar Immigration Office; Denpasar Detention Center, Bali...

The Bali Becik task force aims to conduct 100 immigration control operations per month in Bali, without disrupting tourism activities. Locals can now report cases of illegal activities or disrespectful behavior of foreign tourists in Bali to the Bali Becik task force via a hotline number.

Recently, many foreigners traveling to Bali have violated Indonesian laws and regulations, including overstaying their visas, not complying with religious principles, local customs, and violating road traffic laws.

According to data from the Bali Regional Office of the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, in the first 6 months of 2023, 163 foreign tourists were deported from Bali for not complying with Indonesian laws and regulations. According to the assessment of the head of the Indonesian Immigration Directorate, the social disorder in Bali is due to the resort island becoming a cheap tourist destination, attracting a large number of foreign tourists with "thin wallets", including those who often cause trouble.

Indonesia is looking to transform Bali into a tourism destination that prioritizes quality over quantity. The Bali provincial government recently approved the International Tourist Conduct Code and is studying the possibility of imposing a $10 tax on each international tourist arriving in Bali starting in 2024.
