The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) is completing naturalization procedures for three players before the match against the Vietnamese team.
According to the newspaperCNN Indonesia,Three players Thom Haye, Ragnar Oratmangoen and Maarten Paes are about to complete the final procedures to obtain Indonesian citizenship. Vice President of the Indonesian People's Representative Council - Mr. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that he has received three letters from President Joko Widodo requesting consideration of granting Indonesian citizenship to these three players.
The players’ applications for citizenship will be considered by separate committees of the Indonesian People’s Representative Council. On March 5, the members of the meeting voted unanimously to approve the citizenship applications of Thom Haye and the other two. The process will then be reported to the government. They will wait for the President’s official decision and then take the oath of Indonesian citizenship.
In the final step, the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) will complete the procedures to ensure the player's status with FIFA. This process is expected to be completed before the match between Indonesia and Vietnam at Bung Karno Stadium on March 21.
