Korean media reports that Hyundai is speeding up the process to launch the next-generation Palisade model earlier than originally planned.
PageThekoreancarblogHyundai has postponed the start of mass production of the next-generation Palisade from January 2025 to December this year, according to South Korean media, citing leaked sources.
Accordingly, the sales launch time of this new SUV model has also been pushed up earlier, starting in Europe in the first half of 2025 and in the US in the second half of 2025.
Hyundai's decision to bring the next-generation Palisade into production earlier than expected comes in response to growing consumer demand for hybrid vehicles. The 2025 Palisade will be the first Hyundai model to feature the next-generation 2.5L hybrid powertrain.
This system was developed by Hyundai specifically for mid- and large-sized vehicles, replacing the current diesel engine to comply with stricter emission regulations. Specifically, the 2025 Hyundai Palisade will have a hybrid powertrain including a 2.5L Theta 3 turbocharged gasoline engine with a larger battery pack than the current 1.6 hybrid engine.
Meanwhile, the gasoline versions will use a 3.5L Lambda 3 GDI engine for the North American market and a 2.5L Theta 3 turbocharged engine for the Korean market.
Sources from Korea said that the 2025 Hyundai Palisade will use a new chassis platform with a larger wheelbase than the current generation, reaching 2,900 mm.
This change will significantly improve interior space, helping Palisade compete better with rivals in the same large SUV segment in the international market such as Honda Pilot, Toyota Grand Highlander or Ford Explorer.
In addition, the increased wheelbase also allows Hyundai to add a 9-seat configuration in addition to the current 7- and 8-seat configuration options. The Korean automaker is also expected to integrate the latest infotainment system and semi-autonomous highway driving assistance system along with many equipment taken from the Genesis luxury car line to increase the competitive advantage of the next generation Palisade.
