Instructions for arranging Tet and National Day holidays in 2024

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs encourages businesses to apply Lunar New Year holidays for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees.

Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 will last 5 days

On November 22, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung signed a document announcing the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024 for officials, civil servants, public employees and workers.

Accordingly, implementing the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs hereby notifies administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations and employers to observe the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024.

The notice clearly states that cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations and socio-political organizations will have the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 from Thursday, February 8, 2024 to Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

This holiday includes 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 2 days off in lieu of weekly holidays as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

Lunar New Year Holiday Schedule 2024

For the National Day holiday, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have a holiday from Saturday, August 31, 2024 to Tuesday, September 3, 2024. This holiday includes 2 National Day holidays and 2 weekly days off.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs encourages employers to apply the Lunar New Year holiday for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees. Employers must notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday plan at least 30 days in advance.

If the weekly day off coincides with the Lunar New Year holiday or National Day holiday, the employer shall arrange a compensatory weekly day off for the employee on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

Agencies and units that do not implement the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024 should pay attention to arranging and organizing working departments reasonably to handle work continuously, ensuring good service to organizations and people.

According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, for agencies and units that do not have a fixed schedule of Saturday and Sunday every week, they will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable schedule.

Employees not belonging to administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, and employers decide to take Lunar New Year holidays. Employers choose 1 day at the end of the year of Quy Mao and 4 days at the beginning of the year of Giap Thin or 2 days at the end of the year of Quy Mao and 3 days at the beginning of the year of Giap Thin or 3 days at the end of the year of Quy Mao and 2 days at the beginning of the year of Giap Thin.

For the National Day holiday, the employer chooses 1 of 2 days: Sunday, September 1 or Tuesday, September 3.
