The pure electric van has a series of upgrades compared to the internal combustion engine version, a range of 244 km per charge, and will be on sale from October.
Honda has expressed interest in the idea of an electric N-Van from at least 2022, with prototypes debuting just a year later. The small van would be a kei-car (K-car) and would be sold only in Japan.
The N-Van e comes in four trim levels: e: L4, e: FUN, e: G and e: L2. The e: G has the lowest price of $15,500, targeting the commercial customer segment. The vehicle has only one seat for the driver, the remaining space is for cargo. Compared to the petrol version, the e: G is 93 mm longer, and the floor is 119 mm lower. Meanwhile, the e: L2 has a number of additional options for different commercial purposes, priced at $16,200.
However, these two versions are only available for lease. Individual customers who want to buy the car can choose between the e:L4 version for $17,200, which includes a range of amenities, with four seats, a 7-inch LCD screen, and two-tone paint. The more upscale e:FUN version, with lighter interior colors and faster charging capabilities, costs $18,600.
The N-Van e is equipped with a host of safety features, including lane-keeping assist, acceleration warning, pedestrian avoidance, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The powertrain is also supported by a regenerative braking system. The car has curtain airbags - a first in this segment.
Honda hasn’t released battery details, but says the car has a range of 150 miles (244 km) per charge. It takes 4.5 hours to fully charge. The N-Van e can also be used as an electric vehicle, with up to 1,500 watts of power.
