The Vietnam Register has just issued three consecutive announcements about 1,967 Ford Explorer vehicles having faulty camera systems, 1,256 Ford Everest vehicles having faulty battery drains, and 2 Ford Everest vehicles needing to have their diesel particulate filters replaced and needing to be returned to the workshop for inspection, updating, and replacement.

Specifically, in the announcement with code THSP/2023/28, there are 1,967 Ford Explorer vehicles manufactured from October 19, 2018 to May 2, 2023 imported and distributed by Ford Vietnam Company Limited that need to return to the factory to update the software of the rear camera system and 360-degree camera according to the announcement of Ford Group.

According to the Vietnam Register, on some affected vehicles, sometimes when reversing or when selecting 360-degree view (the vehicle is operating at low speed), customers may see a blue streak or a full blue, black screen for the rear camera on the SYNC screen.

This phenomenon will exist when the customer starts the engine and may repeat during subsequent ignition on and off cycles.

The solution is to update the software that controls the rear camera and 360-degree camera.

The program will start from now and is expected to end on September 5, 2026 at authorized Ford Vietnam dealers. Each vehicle will take about 0.5 hours to update and is completely free.

In addition, in the announcement with code THSP/2023/29, there are 1,256 Ford Everest vehicles manufactured from November 24, 2021 to February 3, 2023 imported and distributed by Ford Vietnam that need to return to the factory to update the powertrain control program (PCM) - Battery consumption according to the announcement of Ford Group.

On some affected Ford Everest vehicles, the PCM may limit the charging current to the battery under certain circumstances, resulting in battery drain while the vehicle is operating.

If this condition occurs, the battery voltage may drop to a level that is insufficient to start the vehicle after it is turned off.

Additionally, if the battery voltage drops below a critical threshold when the vehicle is traveling at speeds below 6 km/h, the transmission will automatically shift into park (P) mode, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly without activating the brake lights, increasing the risk of a collision.

The solution is to update the PCM software for affected vehicles. The implementation time is from now until August 31, 2026, expected to take about 0.3 hours per vehicle and is completely free.

In addition, in the announcement with code THSP/2023/30, there are 2 Ford Everest vehicles manufactured from May 19, 2022 to June 28, 2023, also imported and distributed by Ford Vietnam, that need to return to the factory to replace the diesel engine exhaust particulate filter according to the announcement of Ford Group.

According to the Vietnam Register, on some affected vehicles, improperly installed diesel particulate filters (DPFs) may result in more frequent exhaust gas regeneration and consequently reduced fuel economy, potentially shortening oil life and failing to comply with emissions regulations.

The remedy is to replace the diesel particulate filter in these vehicles.

The replacement will take place from now until August 31, 2026 at Ford Vietnam authorized dealers. The estimated repair time is about 1.4 hours per vehicle and is completely free of charge.

Ford Vietnam Co., Ltd. recommends that for the benefit and safety of themselves and their passengers, customers should bring their vehicles to Ford Vietnam authorized dealers as soon as possible to update the camera software, update the PCM software and replace the diesel engine particulate filter for affected vehicles.

For vehicles imported into Vietnam without going through Ford Vietnam Company Limited (including the form of moving assets, diplomacy, individuals or imported by other companies) subject to the above notification, if requested, Ford Vietnam is ready to assist, contact to check information and process free of charge according to Ford Group's program.
