The discussion is expected to take place on July 18 under the chairmanship of British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.

Britain holds the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council this month and is seeking global leadership in regulating AI. London has called for an international dialogue on the impact of AI on global peace and security.

Many governments around the world are considering how to mitigate the risks of emerging AI technologies, which could reshape the global economy and change the international security landscape.

In June, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres backed a proposal by several AI executives to create an international AI watchdog, similar to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The world has been facing an explosion of content created using generative AI technology since the GPT app was launched late last year. Many countries around the world are looking to regulate such chatbots and ensure that the technology does not pose a danger to humanity.
