More than 800 servings of nutritious porridge were delivered to patients and their families at the Provincial General Hospital by Miss Charity 2024 Vu Thi Minh Thuy and members of the Thien Nhan Tam Club.
The charity porridge distribution activity every Sunday morning has been maintained by Thien Nhan Tam Club of Cuong Xa Pagoda (Hai Duong City) since 2015. At 9:00 a.m. on January 12, without prior notice, people from the treatment areas came with bowls, lunch boxes, and plastic cups in hand to receive the porridge.
Miss Charity Vu Thi Minh Thuy shared: “This morning, I woke up early, prepared ingredients, picked vegetables and cooked pots of charity porridge with everyone in the club. Now I can personally distribute porridge to everyone, I feel happy to contribute a small part of my strength.”
Receiving a hot nutritious porridge for her child who is being treated at the hospital, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong in Cam Doai (Cam Giang) hopes that every week there will be enough porridge for patients who are still in difficulty. Ms. Hong believes that for patients who have to undergo long-term treatment and whose families are financially constrained, everything becomes a burden. Although the porridge is not worth much, it brings joy to many patients and their families who are being treated.
In less than half an hour, more than 800 portions of porridge were delivered to patients and their families. Venerable Thich Thanh Cuong, Head of Thien Nhan Tam Club at Cuong Xa Pagoda, said: “The club does not limit the amount of porridge distributed to each person, whoever wants to eat can take that much. On average, each session has thousands of people coming to receive charity porridge. Although the budget for each porridge distribution session is not much, only about 6 million VND, the feelings and spiritual encouragement sent to the patients are very great and meaningful.”
In 2024, Thien Nhan Tam Club of Cuong Xa Pagoda organized the cooking and distribution of more than 20,000 free porridge portions to patients at Hai Duong General Hospital. This activity received active support from philanthropists, enthusiastic participation of club members and volunteers.
Ms. Vu Thi Minh Thuy (Thanh Binh ward, Hai Duong city) was awarded the title "Miss Charity" thanks to her charity project and the title "Most Favorite Beauty" at the "Miss Asian Businesswoman 2024" contest licensed by the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province, held in early December 2024.
