The Israeli military said that on the evening of June 27, 35 rockets and missiles were launched from Lebanon into the city of Safed in northern Israel, causing fires, power outages and property damage.

In a statement, the Israeli military said its Defense Forces successfully intercepted most of the rockets and missiles fired. No casualties were reported.

Merom HaGalil Regional Council said one house was hit by a rocket. Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that several fires had broken out and civilians were trapped in elevators due to power outages.

On the same day, the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon announced that it had attacked the Israeli air base in Safed with rockets in response to Israel's attacks on the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon and the town of Sohmor in the east of the country a day earlier.

In a separate statement, the IDF said earlier in the day, Israeli warplanes attacked a Hezbollah military facility in the village of Ramyah, south Lebanon, killing two Hezbollah members.

On the same day, anonymous Lebanese military sources confirmed that three Hezbollah members were killed and one was injured in two Israeli airstrikes on the villages of Ramyah and Haddatha.

Tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border have been escalating since the conflict between Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas broke out in the Gaza Strip last October. Hezbollah began attacking the Israeli border area in protest of the conflict and said it would only stop when a ceasefire was agreed in Gaza. In response, the Israeli military also carried out several airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
