Russia and Cuba signed 17 cooperation documents in many fields.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held high-level meetings with Cuban leaders and signed 17 cooperation documents in various fields within the framework of his visit to Cuba.

During his official visit to Cuba from April 3-5, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held high-level meetings with Cuban leaders and signed many important cooperation agreements.

At the 22nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee, the two sides signed 17 cooperation documents in the fields of health, education, science, land use and urban planning, geodesy and cartography, land registration and artificial intelligence, among others.

According to the official announcement, Russia will continue to support Cuba in oil and gas exploitation in the Jaruco area, and will also provide 100,000 tons of crude oil. The two countries are preparing to launch a taxi service project in Havana with 50 Moskvich cars and cooperate in assembling WAZ brand trucks.

The two countries have signed several agreements on training doctors, exchanging medical experts and cooperating in medical research. Russia will provide technical assistance to Cuba’s sugar industry, including the supply of agricultural machinery and spare parts. The two sides will also establish a joint laboratory on artificial intelligence.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko affirmed that Russia will continue to support Cuba's development efforts, especially investment projects in the fields of energy, transport, electronics, tourism, education and agricultural products.

For his part, Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas emphasized that cooperation with Moscow has important strategic significance for Havana in the current context, helping the Caribbean island nation gradually realize its socio-economic development goals by 2030.

Mr. Dmitry Chernyshenko's visit has special significance as it takes place on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the former Soviet Union, building a long-standing traditional friendship between the two countries.
