The extraction of data from the black box, also known as the flight data recorder (FDR), of the Boeing 737-800 began on the morning of January 9. Previously, the FDR was sent to the US National Transportation Safety Board in Washington (USA) for analysis. The Korean side said that many factors had to be considered before sending this important evidence to the US for repair and data extraction.

On December 29, a Jeju Air flight carrying 181 people returning from Bangkok crashed while landing at Muan International Airport in the southwestern district of Muan. Except for two flight attendants who survived, the remaining 179 people died. A total of 179 bodies have been recovered, of which 151 have been returned to their families, and some personal belongings have been identified.
