On October 31, a senior Hamas official said the group had rejected all proposals for a pause in the more than year-long fighting in Gaza, instead calling for a permanent ceasefire.

According to this official, Hamas does not agree with the temporary cessation of fighting, only to have the conflict continue.

This armed Islamic movement asserts that only a permanent end to war is the solution it supports.

In July, the Islamist Hamas movement eased its conditions for accepting a ceasefire to end the protracted war in the Gaza Strip, sending new proposals to Egyptian and Qatari mediators.

In another development on the same day, the Israeli army called for the evacuation of several areas in southern Lebanon, including a Palestinian refugee camp, warning that Israel would attack Hezbollah targets in these areas.

Meanwhile, Syria's SANA news agency has strongly condemned the Israeli military's attack on several residential buildings in the Qusayr area, a southern rural area of the central province of Homs.

The frequency of Israeli airstrikes against Syria has increased since the conflict in the Gaza Strip broke out in early October 2023.

Previously, Israel used warning tactics when attacking targets in Syria, but recently switched to direct strikes that caused greater casualties.
