By December 5, Hai Duong farmers had harvested more than 7,000 hectares of winter crops, reaching more than 30% of the total winter crop area planted.
Currently, cabbage is sold at the field for 6.5-9 million VND/sao, kohlrabi for 7-8.8 million VND/sao, cauliflower for 7-8.5 million VND/sao, farmers earn 3.5-6 million VND/sao depending on the type.
The whole province has planted about 20,887 hectares of winter crops, reaching 99.5% of the plan, higher than the same period last year, of which 4,192 hectares of cabbage, kohlrabi, and cauliflower have begun to be harvested, the remaining area is for growing potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, etc.
According to the assessment of the Hai Duong Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, this year the weather is favorable, crop yields are high, prices are stable, unlike last year when prices were high at the beginning of the season but dropped rapidly in the middle of the season.
The Hai Duong Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection requested localities to facilitate transportation and wharfs for traders and businesses to purchase and consume vegetables for farmers. Continue to promote planting and expand the area of winter crops, focusing on vegetables of all kinds. Pay attention to care, provide enough irrigation water and prevent pests and diseases for crops. Ensure the supply of vegetables to the market before and after the Lunar New Year 2024.
