Hai Duong increases social security assistance payments via accounts during Tet

To effectively implement the social security program on the occasion of the 2024 Lunar New Year, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs is coordinating with the Provincial Police and banks to carry out a peak period of support for opening social security payment accounts from mid-January to early February.

This is an activity to implement the direction of the Provincial People's Committee on January 18 on increasing the payment of subsidies via bank accounts during Tet and Directive No. 21/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on promoting digital transformation in non-cash social security payments.

During the peak period, local police forces in the province reviewed and connected the national database on the population of social protection beneficiaries and people with revolutionary contributions to support account opening and implementation of steps to pay social benefits during Tet through bank accounts. For those who are social protection beneficiaries and the elderly, local working groups will come to each house to support account opening.

According to statistics from the authorities, by the end of December 2023, Hai Duong had only 14,781 out of 115,667 social security beneficiaries with accounts for non-cash payments (accounting for 12.8%). The amount paid through accounts reached more than 62.7 billion VND.
