Food safety risks in production, processing, and preservation such as pesticide residues, dyeing, and chemical impregnation affect consumers' health.
On November 23, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong organized a training course on food safety for 60 trainees representing departments and units under the department; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of districts, cities and towns; owners of establishments, households producing, trading and processing agricultural and food products in the province.
Trainees were introduced to the system of legal documents; technical standards and regulations in quality management; conditions for ensuring food safety in the production and trading of agricultural, forestry and fishery products. The risks of food safety in production, processing and preservation such as pesticide residues, dyeing, chemical impregnation, and injection of impurities affecting the health of consumers were emphasized.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province currently has over 15,500 hectares of vegetables and fruits produced according to safe processes, of which 1,500 hectares of vegetables and fruits have been certified to meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. Nearly 150 hectares have been certified for organic production. There have been 36 livestock farms certified to be VietGAP and safe from animal diseases. 86.5 hectares of aquaculture area have been certified to be VietGAP.
