Hai Duong eliminates bonus points for entrance exam to grade 10 at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted

On March 21, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province approved the 10th grade high school enrollment plan for the 2024-2025 school year.

Accordingly, math, literature and English are the three subjects for the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools in the 2024-2025 school year.

The general exam schedule is for June 1 and 2. Candidates will take the math and literature exams in essay format for 120 minutes; the English exam will be taken in 60 minutes in multiple choice format.

The admission score is the total score of 3 exams, including math and literature (coefficient 2), English (coefficient 1), no exam subject is 1 point or lower and priority points (if any). The knowledge content is from the secondary school program, mainly grade 9.

Candidates are students who have graduated from secondary school or continuing education programs and reside in the province or have parents or guardians registered to reside in Hai Duong province (in other cases, the unit receiving the application must consult the Department of Education and Training); the prescribed age is from 15-17 years old (born in 2007, 2008, 2009); for students who skip grades in previous levels, the age is reduced according to regulations.

Candidates graduating from junior high school in 2024 register to take the exam at the junior high school where they studied grade 9. Independent candidates register to take the exam at the junior high school in the area where the candidate or their parents or guardians register to reside. After registering for the exam, the candidate will be given a candidate code by the junior high school (where they registered to take the exam). Candidates use the code to log in to the exam management software to check their personal information, exam registration information, admission wishes, exam location, admission results, etc.

Each candidate can register for a maximum of 2 wishes to 2 public high schools in order of priority: wish 1 and wish 2. Candidates who have passed wish 1 will not be considered for wish 2. In addition, candidates can register for an additional wish to 1 private high school or 1 educational institution implementing a continuing education program at high school level...

For private high school grade 10 admission and grade 10 continuing education program at high school level, each candidate can register to take admission to a private high school or an educational institution implementing a continuing education program. Candidates register on the exam management system at the same time as registering for the public high school grade 10 entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

Private high schools and facilities implementing continuing education programs at high school level must develop an enrollment plan, determine specific enrollment methods, and submit them to the Department of Education and Training for approval before April 30, 2024.

Regarding enrollment in grade 10 of Nguyen Trai Specialized High School for the 2024-2025 school year, the school will enroll 12 grade 10 classes with 384 students (32 students/class), a decrease of 10 quotas compared to the previous school year.

The new point this year is that, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Hai Duong has eliminated the bonus points for admission to specialized classes at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted. In previous years, candidates who won individual prizes in the provincial-level competition for excellent students in cultural subjects for grade 9 were awarded bonus points for admission to specialized classes, specifically: first prize plus 3 points, second prize plus 2 points, third prize plus 1 point, and consolation prize plus 0.5 points. In addition, Hai Duong no longer recruits non-specialized classes in Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, instead adding a specialized math class.

Thus, the school enrolls 12 specialized 10th grade classes, including 2 specialized math classes; physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, literature, history, geography, English, French, Russian, each subject has 1 specialized class. Candidates must take 3 exams with the same topics, at the same time as the public high school exam and the specialized subject exam according to registration. Except for the specialized English subject, which combines multiple choice and essay tests, the remaining specialized subjects are tested in essay form.

The entrance exam for Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted is from June 1-3. The time for non-specialized subjects is the same as the public high school exam. The specialized subjects of chemistry and English are 120 minutes, the remaining subjects are 150 minutes. The conditions for taking the entrance exam for Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, in addition to the same criteria as the public high school exam, candidates must have good conduct and academic performance at the junior high school level and good graduation from junior high school.
