Enrollment quota for grade 10 in public and private high schools increased slightly

In the 2023-2024 school year, the Department of Education and Training assigned 15,178 10th grade enrollment quotas to 40 public high schools, an increase of 22 quotas compared to the 2022-2023 school year.

The increase in quotas is concentrated at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted. Nguyen Van Cu High School is still assigned the highest quota with 672 quotas, followed by Hong Quang, Nam Sach, Gia Loc, Ninh Giang, Tu Ky and Chi Linh High Schools with 504 quotas; the lowest is Dong Gia High School with 252 quotas.

The Department of Education and Training has assigned 5,670 10th grade enrollment quotas to 15 private high schools, an increase of 315 quotas compared to the 2022-2023 school year. The highest is Luong The Vinh High School with 720 quotas, followed by Chu Van An High School and Phu Thai High School with 450 quotas each; Tran Quang Khai High School has the lowest quota, 180 quotas.

There are currently no targets assigned to the continuing education sector. Last school year, the continuing education sector was assigned 4,275 targets.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Hai Duong has over 28,000 ninth graders. However, not all of them wish to take the entrance exam to public high schools. Last school year, the whole province had over 29,000 ninth graders but only nearly 21,500 candidates (75%) registered to take the entrance exam to public high schools.

Thus, in the 2023-2024 school year, the total quota for public and private high schools is nearly 21,000. About 7,000 9th graders will enter the regular education sector or can study at colleges, vocational secondary schools in the 9+ system, or other orientations. Vocational schools in the province can accommodate about 7,500 students in the 9+ system. In this system, students study both culture and vocational training. After 3 years, they will have a high school diploma and a vocational secondary school diploma.

The 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools for the 2023-2024 school year will take place from June 1-2 with three subjects: math, literature and English.
